The Method of Wearing Navratans originated from the ancient traditions so that each of these nine gems when worn in combination will only bring good fortunes. To wear them correctly, one has to choose a genuine Navratna set with all the nine stones – Red Coral, Pearl, Ruby, Emerald, Yellow Sapphire, Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Hessonite and Cat’s Eye in the correct order. Usually these are put in a gold or silver ring or in a pendant. The preparation of Navratans should start early on any Monday morning especially when it's on the Shukla Paksha. The ring or the pendant before wearing it should be washed with Ganga Jal and recited along certain mantras to appease the related planets.
